Author Interview

Daniela Vogel

Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we?!

Hello my dears, First of all, thank you for the great opportunity. My name is Daniela Vogel and I am a German writer. I am married, have two children and live in the Ruhr area. I really enjoy reading, playing guitar, singing and sewing historical clothing. But I prefer to play with my four grandchildren.

What prompted you to pursue a career as a writer?

Back then, when my father died very young, I began to wonder what I really want. What dreams I had. Only one thing occurred to me: I wanted to write stories with which I can take my readers into my world and thus let them forget their everyday lives for a while.

Do you have any special writing habits?

No, not really. I write where and when I find time.

When you write a new book, do you already have the whole story in mind or do you elaborate it along the way?

I already have most of it in my head. However, my protagonists sometimes do what they want and then I give in to them and follow them.

In your opinion what is the best book you have written? What’s your favourite book ever?

I don’t have a favorite book among my books. However, I love my mystical, romantic time travel to Scotland. I love to interweave legends, sagas and real events and Scotland is a country where you can find it all.

How do you feel after writing a book?

It’s like having a baby. And I’m excited to see how my readers will take it.

Tell us about your latest book and please put the link so our readers can find it.

My last book, and therefore the first to be translated into English, is “Gleann Comhann – Trapped in the Valley of Tears”. It is about the young student, Cat Campbell, who has to do research at Samhain in Glencoe for an essay. There she meets the ghost of Dusten MacDonald. It turns out that he is being held captive in the fairy realm and she decides to save him. But instead of going to the fairy kingdom, she ends up in 17th century Scotland just before a massacre that took place in Glencoe. But how is she supposed to save Dusten there and can she even do that?

Do you have a new release? When? We want details.

There will be two more releases in October. A new German-language journey through time, this time to Scotland in the 16th century and a further translation of an already accomplished journey through time into the 18th century. I can already give away the English title: “Lost in the worriers gaze”
