Author Interview

Kimberley O’Malley

Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we?!

Hi, I’m Kimberley, lover of books, sunshine, dogs and HEAs. I’m a transplant to the South form Pennsylvania…never looked back! I get to wear flip flops most of the year. When I’m not busy as a Mom, wife, or nurse, I’m creating new, friendlier worlds.

What prompted you to pursue a career as a writer?

I never set out to be a writer. I wrote Coming Home, my first book, while waiting to adopt our daughter from Russia. Those were stressful and trying times. Each night after work, I cam home and poured all of my emotion into my computer. And Sam and Elizabeth were born.

Do you have any special writing habits?

Unlike most of my friends who write, I have to have complete silence. There’s already enough noise in my head… I also tend to write in the mornings and early afternoon. I am a Panster, or Reverse Plotter. This means I do not writer an outline ahead of time. Each time I start a book, I know exactly how it starts and ends. The thousands of words in then middle are up for grabs.

When you write a new book, do you already have the whole story in mind or do you elaborate it along the way?

See above. I truly have no idea what’s going to happen beyond a vague notion. It’s actually fun for me as I get to discover my characters as we go.

In your opinion what is the best book you have written? What’s your favourite book ever?

I think that Saving Quinn is my best so far. It hits all the feels. I was never good at answering ‘favorite’ questions. My favorite book tends to be the one I’m currently reading.

How do you feel after writing a book?

Ecstatic followed quickly by exhausted at the thought of editing.

Tell us about your latest book and please put the link so our readers can find it.

So my latest release is a Contemporary Romance entitles The One that (Almost) Got Away. This was meant to be a standalone. Not sure what I was thinking there…This is the story of a woman trying to improve herself and the guy she meets along the way. It’s funny and perhaps a bit lighter than my other CRs. You can read Jamie and Griff’s story at

Do you have a new release? When? We want details.

Funny you should ask! Death by Chocolate, the 5th in my Addie Foster Cozy Mystery series, releases 9/16! This is a snarky, LOL mystery series featuring an indie bookstore owning amateur sleuth, her ridiculous BFF, dark brooding BF, 2 maiden Great Aunts (think Golden Girls), and a pair of fluffy dogs. The preorder can be found at
