Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we?!
Thanks so much for inviting me to Books Charm. It’s a pleasure to be here. I write under the pen names L.V. Lane and Liv Lane. When I’m not tapping away at my keyboard, I’m usually nose-deep in another author’s book! I have a beautiful but pesky fur baby and a wonderful husband who puts up with my hermit-like existence. Originally from the UK, I moved to Australia sixteen years ago. Currently living in sunny Queensland. I’m happiest when I’m doing terrible things to my characters in the name of romance. Outside of writing, I enjoy walking / hiking, and when we’re not in the middle of a pandemic, I enjoy traveling! I have an obsession with castles, love anything to do with ancient history or culture, and enjoy exploring national parks.
What prompted you to pursue a career as a writer?
I’ve been making up stories my whole life. Putting them down on paper happened soon after leaving school. Most evenings and weekends would be spent writing. I did this for many, many years before I eventually decided to try and publish one. It was more of a ‘why not’ than a conscious decision to become a published author. I’m so glad I gave it a go!
Do you have any special writing habits?
Other than I need quiet, and (weirdly, although I don’t look out the window much) I need a room with a view. I write pretty much any spare time I get.
When you write a new book, do you already have the whole story in mind or do you elaborate it along the way?
I start with a trigger scene. This can come from anywhere. Something I see, music, all kinds of weird and wonderful things can spark an idea. The scene shows me the characters. Usually, this scene will trigger a fair number of plot points, or at least enough to make a start. Sometimes I have a firm end, but not always (I mostly write romance, so I guess I’m aiming for the HEA, but there are many ways this can happen). I just go ahead and write the scene, and see what pops out. I’m a scattered writer. It does not happen linearly, and I jump all over the place with scenes in a giant mess that somehow comes together at the end! Mostly 😉
In your opinion what is the best book you have written? What’s your favourite book ever?
Tough question, but I’m going to go with the Deviant Trilogy because it had great character arcs, plenty of action, and a satisfying ending. But if I were to pick the one I most enjoyed writing, it would be Prey. It was so much fun to write.
How do you feel after writing a book?
Satisfied. Relieved. Excited to edit it.
Tell us about your latest book and please put the link so our readers can find it.
Prey is a fantasy reverse harem omegaverse with three stern Alphas, an Alpha wolf-shifter, and a stubborn Omega prey. It includes smoking hot sexual situations, spankings, and domestic discipline. Standalone novel with HEA Available on Kindle Unlimited https://books2read.com/u/mYpapP 𝑩𝑳𝑼𝑹𝑩~ I am prey. This is not pity talking, this is an acknowledgment of a fact. I am small and weak; I am an Omega. I am a prize that men war over. For a year I have hidden in the distant corner of the Empire. But I am running out of food, and I am running out of options. That I must leave soon is not a decision for today, though, but a decision for tomorrow. Only tomorrow’s choices never come. For tonight brings strangers who remind me that I am prey. New to Omegaverse? It’s a paranormal D/s trope that takes from the shifter trope. We get heat, knotting, rutting, nesting, pair-bonding, and often paranormal elements to the stories! Omegas are often oppressed members of society, rare and highly coveted.
