Let’s get you introduced to everyone, shall we?!
My pen name is Sammie Trinidad and I like to think of myself as the Filipina Wonder Woman—I even have the cosplay to prove it. I have published a contemporary and magical realism short story in the Eagle Mountain Con Arts anthology and won first place in 2019 League of Utah Writing anthology—All my stories come from the heart because they’re stories I wish I could tell my son, who passed away from SIDS. Grief drove me to tell stories about people who feel like they’re between beliefs or worlds. I have over 4,000 connections and followers across my social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter. Thanks to my marketing and sales background, I started a youtube channel with my brother titled the Queen&Teen of In-between. I myself am a Filipino-American, bisexual, and don’t fit the cultural norms of my religion—because of that, I strongly believe everyone has a place.
What prompted you to pursue a career as a writer?
Read Harry Potter at 9
Do you have any special writing habits?
I am all about writing rituals. I have specific playlists I use to channel certain moods. I also have to have a drink. And then I also like to do writing sprints via zoom. In person outside of COVID-19.
When you write a new book, do you already have the whole story in mind or do you elaborate it along the way?
I’m a heavy plotter so usually I take the time to structure but also give myself permission to let things evolve.
In your opinion what is the best book you have written? What’s your favourite book ever?
Best book I’ve written is the one that’s out for submission with agents and editors. It’s a Filipino retelling with that has the Philippine Revolution as well. Favorite series will always be Harry Potter but I also adore The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner.
How do you feel after writing a book?
My feelings are akin to the high I get when I run or hike! Long journey but well worth it.
Tell us about your latest book and please put the link so our readers can find it.
